FAQs
How long is each session?
Each initial evaluation and follow up treatment sessions are scheduled for 60 or 90-minutes.
What should I expect from my first session?
When you first arrive at Zero Point One Physical Therapy, you will be greeted by someone at the front desk, who will help you check in for your appointment. At your scheduled time, you will be greeted and we will bring you back to our treatment room.
During the initial evaluation, we will begin with a conversation to gain a clear understanding of the problem and goals during our time together. Along with a detailed assessment of your full-body, we will create a treatment strategy personalized to you, which leads us into treatment.
How is Zero Point One different than other types of therapies?
We approach the body as a whole, with the idea that everything is connected. We combine your diagnosis/condition and overall body alignment to specific joint and soft tissue mobility and the quality of how you move and posture yourself. This serves as a foundation to build a treatment strategy to not only improve your pain but to address the root cause of your pain to create lasting results.
Do you take insurance? And, how will I be reimbursed?
Our services may be covered by your insurance provider depending on your out-of-network medical care. We can help check your insurance coverage; just click “Check Coverage” at the top and we will get back to you with your benefits.
As a courtesy, we will file your claim to your insurance for reimbursement after each visit. You will be reimbursed directly from your insurance company according to your out-of-network benefits.
Many clients choose to pay using FSA/HSA dollars.
What is “manual therapy”?
“Manual therapy” is a powerful, hands-on treatment that physical therapists utilize in order to improve mobility, flexibility and even the healing capacity of your entire body. Physical therapists are uniquely trained to assess and evaluate your body and correlate those findings to the appropriate treatment, such as manual therapy.
It includes but is not limited to soft tissue mobilizations, myofascial release, joint mobilization, manipulation, and percussion.
What’s the difference between massage and “manual therapy”?
Massage is a popular form of relief when dealing with tension, tightness and pain. And, while we advocate for people to regularly get massages for its many benefits, manual therapy can give you a more detailed approach to your hands-on treatment, especially when there is a problem with recurring tension/tightness or pain.
Hands-on techniques are often not effective with only temporary relief, and potentially even damaging, if utilized without a clear understanding of the diagnosis.
Do I need a doctor’s prescription or referral to start PT?
No. According to New York state law, anyone can see a physical therapist through Direct Access without a physician prescription or referral.
What is your payment policy?
We are a fee-for-service, out-of-network physical therapy clinic. This means that payment is due at the time of service. You will be reimbursed directly from your insurance company depending on your out-of-network benefits.
